Time Travelling by Water (TTBW) is an exciting new initiative brought to you by Wessex Archaeology in conjunction with the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Over the past two decades our coastal and marine team have been working to protect and record our marine heritage. This involves not only diving and shipwrecks, but also submerged aircraft, the history of inland waterways, the study of how our prehistoric ancestors lived on land now covered by the sea and the use of some of the most advanced technology available to archaeologists.
Our aim, through TTBW, is to provide learning and access to the wealth of information that this has generated.
Initially the project launches in the South-West, using five themed workshops that are tailored to fit the national KS2 and KS3 curriculum. These are supported by web and whiteboard based resources.
Workshops following the same themes are also available for adult audiences, suitable, for example, for AS and A-level students, local archaeological societies, community and educational groups.
For more information, to book a workshop, or for an informal discussion about the project, please contact Education Officer Gemma White.
